Roulette is an old casino game that has French origins with many theories of who invented the game. By the late 1700s the game was very popular and played in the same manner and style that it is today.

To play the game the player can place bets on a single number or a range of numbers. The gambler can also bet on black or red and also place bets on odd or even numbers. After all bets are placed the dealer or croupier spins the roulette wheel and spins a ball in the opposite direction of the wheel on a track. This is supposed to create the effect or a random number generator and the ball eventually lands on the wheel.

Roulette comes in a few forms such as European roulette or American roulette with the difference of having a double zero to the American version. American roulette has a double zero which increases the house edge slightly and is favored by many brick and mortar casinos. The house edge on European roulette is lower at around 2.70% with American roulette being almost double at 5.2%.
